Intermittant Voice Response

Hello, right I have now installed the UK B patch an have downloaded and installed the german voice response (being an SH2 player before this I feel very at home) ;) I'm having a bit of trouble with the voice response pack in that the responses seem to be intermittent, sometimes a command gets a response, other times the same command produces no audio response, however the text response shows the command has been received, other times the response is severely delayed and occurs several seconds after the command has been carried out.

Does anybody have experince of this? It's only minor, but it is annoying...

Yep I've got the same problem, and I use also the RNE voise pack and there's the same problem. sometime anoying because you bark twice your order rather then simply enjoy the good great response of the game

Also, I've found that if you're playing with loudspeakers on, the game sound can make it more difficult for the SAPI to correctly pick up your voice because of the extra noise.

Try using headphones instead.

They're not talking about voice commands not being picked up by the game, OYS, they're talking about not getting an audio response from the game even though the command was heard and is being carried out.

not something I have seen or heard of before but i might know why.

some games skips audio sequences at some occassions like:

A: Heavy sound output (eg if the game is playing 10 sound files and is to play the 11th, it simply gets skipped (forced out of queue) to prevent lag).

B: During heavy Harddisk usage some sounds/audio might be forced out again to reduce the lag time.

C: There simply isnt any free buffer space in your RAM at the moemnt to read/cache/play it.

Anyhow, its better not to get a verbal respond than getting it 2 minutes after you gave an order, that would confuse you even more Image

Hmm, you could be right, although I have this problem even when on a calm sea, with no enemies around. Considering that I have a Sound Blaster Audigy 2 sound card and 1Gb of RAM I can't see that it's likely to be lack of resources causing the error - but I'm no expert on that... ;)

Oh well, nowt to be done I suppose...

you might check your drivers and mess with the hardware acceleration settings for the card. In the future we will likely be putting the voice responses into a specific soundMAX format that is a little friendlier on the playback load.
